After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:1-3)
Love is eternal. (I Corinthians 13:8)
My beloved FUMC church family,
“I love you and there is nothing you can do about it!”
The hour has come to say farewell as your pastor and start a new relationship as your friend. As you may or may not know, on May 18th, I announced at our worship service that I have been appointed to South Hayward United Methodist Church in Hayward, CA. I am, after leaving eleven years ago, returning to the Bay Area. As I prepare to move and reflect on my time here, words cannot express my deepest gratitude for your love and support. Being your pastor has brought joy to my heart and peace to my soul. I have enjoyed our worship experiences, spiritual formation gatherings, and working together in ministry. With the LORD, we have engaged in the life of the church in marvelous ways. The Spirit of God has been with us, leading us to succeed in our endeavors and growing us spiritually. We have created wonderful memories. May you continue to be the hands, feet and voice of Christ in Forestville and in Sonoma County.
In closing, your new pastor will be announced on Sunday, June 1st. Your new
pastor is an excellent leader, has immense experience as a minister and preacher, is very spiritual and “returning to the area where she grew up.” God has really blessed us by returning both of us to our “homes.” I will miss you, but you will be in “awesome hands” with your new pastor, whom I have known since I answered my call to ministry. May the LORD continue to bless and keep you and make His face shine on you. Praise the LORD. Hallelujah!
